Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Rica ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Services

Rica provides an online platform connecting passengers with bus operators for booking bus tickets across Malawi. We act as an intermediary and do not operate the buses directly.

3. User Accounts

You may book tickets as a guest or create an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account.

4. Booking and Payment

  • All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation.
  • Prices are displayed in Malawian Kwacha (MWK) and include applicable taxes.
  • Payment must be completed at the time of booking.
  • We accept Airtel Money, TNM Mpamba, Visa, and Mastercard.
  • A booking is confirmed only after successful payment.

5. E-Tickets

Upon successful booking, you will receive an e-ticket via email. This ticket contains a QR code that must be presented at boarding. E-tickets are non-transferable.

6. Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellation policies vary by operator. Generally:

  • Cancellations 24+ hours before departure: Full refund
  • Cancellations within 24 hours: May be subject to fees
  • No-shows: No refund

7. User Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate personal and contact information
  • Arrive at the boarding point at least 30 minutes before departure
  • Carry valid identification (National ID or Passport)
  • Comply with bus operator rules and regulations

8. Limitation of Liability

Rica acts as an intermediary between passengers and bus operators. We are not liable for:

  • Delays, cancellations, or changes made by bus operators
  • Loss or damage to luggage
  • Accidents or injuries during travel
  • Actions or omissions of bus operators or their staff

9. Privacy

Your use of Rica is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
